Live score card: Toronto Blue Jays v Los Angeles Angels

Toronto Blue Jays at Los Angeles Angels
August 13, 2010, 10:05 PM EDT
Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California
Starting Pitchers:
Toronto: Marc Rzepczynski SP
Los Angeles: Scott Kazmir SP

Weather: 22°C | 72°F
Wind: nil

Umpires:
  • Home - Rob Drake
  • First Base - Joe West
  • Second Base - Angel Hernandez
  • Third Base - Dan Bellino

Notes:

Peter Christopher Bourjos playing his 9th game with 28 AB with the Angels can play CF. Impressive runs to the ball, excepting the Error I scored on him on Lind's triple in the 2nd inning where he got to the ball before he thought he would and in bracing for the wall on a jump, had it go off the heel of his glove (an error in any league but this one).

Bottom of the 5th

* Molina throws to Encarnacion on a running mistake by Mike Napoli - who thinks it's strike 3 on Abreu and continues his lead off 2nd towards the dugout, but it's not strike three only two. When Napoli sees the throw in front of him going to 3rd he tries to get back to 2nd. Encarnacion's throw to short stop Escobar crosses the base runner and Escobar does acrobatics to prevent it going into CF. Napoli doesn't see the play as he's turned around towards third on the throw, so Escobar picks up the ball and throws to Encarnacion which tips off the 3rd baseman's glove, Napoli see it and turns back again - and this time scampers back 2nd, safe. No effect on the scoring so no errors. Next pitch is strike three, inning over.

Top of 8th

Wells is on second with no outs, the ball is struck deep to straight away CF, the Angels out fielder out there - if you're poying attention - catches everything, Wells should have been tagging on the Lyle Overbay's FO8 rather than 1/2 way, imho. A ball hit to pretty well straight away centre, that deep, the base runner should know by now - it's either out of the park or it's an out. The ball is caught by by the rookie phenom Peter Bourjos who almost over runs the ball - again.

Top of the 9th

* Bautista is robbed of a 2BH by the kid in centre. Great catch - and AngelsBaseballVideos catch it on video and posted it on Youtube:

Rzepczynski retired 14 of his last 15 batters, struck out six and did not walk a batter. Rzepczynski was called up from the Las Vegas 51's (AAA) to spot start for Brandon Morrow after Morrow almost no hit Tampa last Sunday, throwing 137 pitches in the process .
