Blogger Baseball Scorecard: Baltimore Orioles v Toronto Blue Jays

I like the Jays chances of completing the sweep today. Shaun Marcum is pitching on 5 days rest instead of the regular 4. Cito Gaston is resting the starters a little as he thinks they're tired. Marcum says he's not and doesn't like it. My read of Marcum's last start against Boston, a loss 6-0, is that he is slightly perhaps maybe fatigued.

5th Inning

Bautista hit again!! Home plate Umpire Bill Welke DID warn both dugouts in the 4th - after Luke Scott was hit by Marcum, apparently in retaliation for plunking Bautista in the 3rd - and now he throws relief pitcher A Simon. Baltimore manager Buck Showalter was thrown also - for sending in the pitcher to do what he did - apparently.

6th Inning

MacDonald gets a hit with 2 outs in the 6th and plates Buck and Lind. Thinking the balls going to go home to stop Lind from scoring, Johnny Mac heads to 2B, but the cut off throws to second - but the tag is not applied before Lind plates. Johnny is toast, inning over; but 2 runs are in - great base running.

9th Inning

* Cito Gaston's "defensive" replacement Mike McCoy at 2B bobbles, but the ball pops up into his throwing hand and he makes the first out of the inning.
