From Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan
Yankees at Tigers - Game 1
First pitch: 7:05 PM EST
Starting pitchers:
New York - Bartolo Colon
Detroit - Justin Verlander
New York is embarking on a seven game road trip after beating the Toronto Blue Jays 2 games out of 3 over the weekend. The Yanks play 4 here in Detroit and then 3 in Texas before returning to Yankee Stadium on May 10th.
The Tiger's are coming off two sweeps; a 3 gamer vs Seattle at home followed by 3 loses in a row in Cleveland. Is something going to turn around for these Tigers tonight against these surging Yankees - or we are about to witness one of the longest streaks of suckiness in recent memory?
They head out on the road again after this series to play the sputtering Blue Jays for 4 and then 2 in Minnesota who, at this writing, are 9-18 and have just lost 6 in a row themselves. The Tigers return home for a game against the streaky Kansas City Royals - on Friday the 13th! Yikes!! KC ironically, have been consistently winning series until they were swept twice by Texas and Cleveland last week before sweeping Minnesota this weekend. Weird week. I guess all this means the Yankees are due to be swept by someone - maybe these Tigers?
This home stand doesn't really count as one for Detroit, you unpack, do your laundry and then it's back on the road again. In this early schedule Detroit's lot really sucks does it not?

Basically the Yankees slowed the game down and then Detroit stressed out and beat them-
selves.
I count 2 runs on 1 hit, 2 errors (E5, E8th) a wild pitch and a pass ball.
No post game snacks for you!!! |
