After a season of building and scoring with the Minima II Baseball Scorecard, I've noticed a few issues that I could only fix with a complete rebuild. Those gremlins have been attended to with this version.

I've also become aware of how important 'notes' are in scorekeeping, so I'm tweaking the text boxes to enable them for play by play notations and notes as well, and - utilizing the technology adeptly - have the notes hidden, yet very nearby to where the play that they refer to happened.

To the right are 2 examples of this. Both are simple tweaks to the CSS. The top one is cleaner looking but, when you drag open the text area, text in other boxes show jumbbled with the text - and border coding simply trumps it, so words disappear behind the infield icon diamond, and the border elements in any other AB box - so no good.

The lower text box on the other hand, is nicely invisable until you open a 6th line - which is great for keeping the card uncluttered, thus making the scoring easy to read - but when the scrollbar opens... I hate the look it has no style - it's like engineer's grey paint - good for a prototype accents the engineering and prevents rust - but towards design and marketing it's like wearing argyle socks with sandals - practical, but gross.

While researching how to adjust the attributes of scrollbars (thinner, transparent, or green and yellow perhaps), I've become aware of a stupid fight between the Open Source Community and adherents of Microsoft's proprietary coding --- Microsoft browsers support a variety of attributes for scrollbars that allow you to change width, colour, button height etc. - but W3C refuses to advocate that the Open Source Community support the innovation.

Dumb as a MS in their intransigence on this I think.

Anyway, more to come on this soon - here. I'm going to use this post as a template to test new solutions - my trip down the text area solutions minefield has just begun - I may even have to build my own scrolling solution; I imagine a little icon, bottom right that only appears when overflow is indicated - that informs readers they may hover and scroll down with a wind of the mouse - or the down button on the keyboard - to see more text.

To read all of this note just drag the dotted arrow, right here-- > This new feature of the "Minima II Baseball Scorecard - Build 3.0" allows scorekeepers to add as much text as they want - at the exact place in the schematic time line where the play the note refers to, happened.
