Scorecard: June 11, 2011 Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays - Game 2 of 3

From Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario,

Canada:
Boston Red Sox
(37-26)
Manager: Terry Francona
@
Toronto Blue Jays
(32-32)
Manager: John Farrell
Game 2 of 3
First pitch: 1:07 PM EDT

Starting Pitchers
Boston - John Lackey
Toronto - Brandon Morrow

Umpires
Home - Mark Carlson
3B - Tim Timmons
2B - - Eric Cooper
1B - Jeff Kellogg

Weather
Cloudy
Temp: 19°C | 66°F
Wind: Easterly at 5 kph | 3 mph
(right field to the 3B line)

And then swirling around inside the dome; so really, which way the wind is blowing outside the stadium, is meaningless.

The Blue Jays should do some wind tests with smoke and map what happens in various common wind conditions - they can model a wind swirl map to augment the design of pitching strategies for every hitter in the Majors.

I noticed yesterday for example, with the wind coming from the East at a leisurely 14 kph, the wind whips from the third base side [west] changed direction and amplified by the Rogers Centre structure - now whistling across the infield at about 30-40 kph!

A state of the art meteorological map of the way the dome influences wind would be of great benefit to the team I expect - no other team would have the data.

Middle 5

Looking for a silver lining, Blue Jays' fans are hoping Boston Starter John Lackey, waiting in the dugout so often, and for so long while his team is batting, will be too sleepy, too tired to continue... ..something.

Line-up and pitching totals from ESPN (box score).
