Listening to the radio again tonight, lots of references to how bad pitchers are at hitting, not that there's anything wrong with that... just that the pitcher batting makes it a better game - imho, but not apparently in the opinion of the 3rd inning play by play guy.



8th Inning

I liked the way John McDonald stayed away from the tag at home on the contact play from 3rd, he's trying to give the batter-runner Patterson the opportunity to take second base on the play - but Patterson is moping and lolly-gags it down to 1B - if he's running full out on a play he knows is a contact play maybe they throw the ball into CF and he scores in McDonald's place --- in the eight inning with a one run lead... but no.

Base Hit - Batter-runner safe at first base via a hit ball

Two Base Hit - Batter-runner safe at second base via a hit ball

Three Base Hit - Batter-runner safe at third base via a hit ball

Home Run - Batter-runner safe at home plate via a hit ball

Run Batted In - via a SAC, a BH or a BB - a run scores

Sacrifice - With less than two outs the batter causes a base runner to advance but in the process, is put out
