Environment Canada forecast for today (7:00 AM - Toronto Island Airport):

"Becoming cloudy with sunny periods this morning with 30 percent chance of showers changing to 70 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms near noon. Risk of a thunderstorm late this morning. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h this morning. High 29. UV index 8 or very high."

My read of the satellite pics is that a very strong, fast flow of dense, hot, wet air is spiking up the Mississippi valley north over the western great lakes into the arctic, creating unstable and chaotic events along a 1000 mile north south stretch of the continent. This interaction as a whole is slowly moving east. Our (Toronto) 'event horizon' may take until noon, or longer, to get here, localized spin-offs may create intense weather events preceding the main front.

The Dome will be closed today. Bring an umbrella for on the way to, or for the way home.

12:40 PM weather update: The front has vanished should clear soon and the Dome should be open - but it won't be because Environment Canada is still calling for unsettled conditions. Rogers Inc. doesn't want to get their fake grass wet!

Wells' first pitch pop to 1B foul, again. Maybe he needs glasses. I don't think I've ever seen a batter hit so may first strike pop outs foul before.

Holly molly the camera people show us the roof is open! Kudos to the Rogers Centre roof open/close staff!

Buster Posey playing first base for the Giants helps out the Kung-foo Panda at 3B on a high throw for the first out of the inning, John Buck (had to get those names in there).

Overbay makes a great running catch in foul ground - running away from the plate over the shoulder.

Bottom of the 6th

CF Torres has Huff cut in front of him for the first out but it doesn't affect him on the second out as he takes command in front of the left fielder as the short-stop, Renteria gives up on the high pop in shallow left centre.

Top of the 8th

Bautista going flat out off the crack of the bat makes the running catch on B Molina's line drive to deep right centre. Nice play, perfect line to the ball.
